The Serbian parliament is continuing its second spring session with discussion of amendments to the law on refugees. The changes and additions to the law call for the state to solve issues of residence for refugees where possible, by allow them to either use or rent for a period of time or even buy state property to live in. MPs discuss law on refugees The proposed changes also recommend that the state can solve these problems by handing out funds to refugees for improving their living situations, for buying building materials to begin construction, buying village households, or giving refugees loans or donations for improving their living situations. The adoption of the proposed changes would enable the integration of refugees that have not been able, either because of fear of persecution or discrimination, or are unwilling to return to the homes they fled from, according to the draft law. The ongoing parliamentary session began on March 30 with an agenda that includes 94 draft laws and other acts. The session has the largest number of issues on the agenda any session has had since the formation of the current parliament. MPs have only held general discussions on the proposed acts thus far.
