The ruling coalition might reconstruct the government in the coming months by appointing replacement ministers, daily Vecernje novosti writes. The daily states that while the government is not expected to decrease the number of ministries, there could be changes made, replacing ministers that are not doing a good job. Daily: Changes in cabinet on horizon Room for such an option opened up after unsuccessful efforts between ruling coalition officials to reach an agreement on decreasing the number of ministries in order to save money. The daily states that there could be potential disagreements breaking out in the coalition if parties were to lose their ministries, which could lead to a blockade in the work of the government. The change in ministers would be seen as a type of “shock therapy” at the mid-term of the government’s mandate, which would lead to a more effective government and assuage the complaints of the citizens. Vecernje novosti states that Interior Minister Ivica Dacic approves of the plan, stating that replacing ministers who are not doing their jobs would be more beneficial at this point than decreasing the number of ministries. Democratic Party (DS) official Nada Kolundzija said that the ruling coalition has not discussed this option. “If an analysis exists within the government for changes that would contribute to more effective work, then we can talk about it. But, besides effectiveness, it is important for the government to maintain its stability,” Kolundzija said.
