Thaci: Authority will spread to north

Hashim Thaci says Kosovo institutions will have authority in the northern parts, as EULEX spreads there. The Kosovo premier made the statement today in Pristina after a meeting with KFOR commander Gen. Giuseppe Emilio Gay. Thaci: Authority will spread to north Thaci also said there is "a lot it organized crime and corruption" in the north, but that "work is done step by step, in order for the Kosovo institution to expand their authority to that part of the country" as EULEX deploys there. Asked about a visit by Minister for Kosovo Goran Bodganovic, Thaci said that the Kosovo institutions are interested in building "good neighborly relations with all regional countries", according to the local Kosovapress news agency, quoted by FoNet. "Our final goal is to be a part of NATO and the EU. We are continuing with implementation of the necessary democratic criteria for integration. Kosovo is already a part of the international democratic community," he said. Gay stated that his meeting with Thaci concerned the security situation in Kosovo, and future cooperation. The Serbs, who make up the majority in the northern parts of the province, reject both the government in Pristina, and EULEX deployment.
