DS to reconsider relations in event of DSS boycott

In the event of the DSS boycotting the presidential elections, the DS would review its coalition agreement. “If one of the coalition partners shows its willingness to boycott the elections, indeed question supporting its majority coalition partner, those are grounds for reconsidering those relations,” Democratic Party (DS) official Nada Kolundzija told reporters outside parliament. After their decision to call the presidential ballot unilaterally, the DS are prepared to go all the way: should Kostunica fail to back President Boris Tadic, they will carry on the campaign even without the DSS’s support, convinced that Tadic can win a second mandate. However, as far as the prime minister is concerned, Kosovo is the only issue that matters until after the Security Council session tomorrow, and he will announce his position on the elections at the weekend, it is reported. He will have four options: 1) support Tadic; 2) support junior coalition partner Velimir Ilic, should he choose to run; 3) remain silent and watch things unfold; 4) openly boycott the elections, and call on DSS supporters to do likewise.
