FM Vuk Jeremic yesterday in Belgrade opened the first Conference of the Serbian Ambassadors. He expressed fear that the capacity of democratic Serbia to continue reforms will reach its "cracking point" if the solution for the future Kosovo status is imposed. Imposed solution severe test for democratic Serbia – Jeremic "The values of democracy embraced by our citizens in the elections held in 2000, and reconfirmed in all the presidential, parliamentary, and local elections, would be irreversibly delegitimized in the eyes of our people, in case of an imposed independence of Kosovo," Jeremic said at the conference. He stated that it is not and will not be the government's policy to take any steps that would isolate Serbia. "The last thing our citizens expect us to do is go down the road that reminds us of the fatal path of Slobodan Milosevic's regime, the regime which brought nothing but shame upon our country and the Serbian people," Jeremic said. He added that Serbia's strategic priority is to speed up joining the EU, and to further improve relations with Brussels, Moscow, and Washington, which are the three pillars of Serbian foreign policy. The minister reiterated that the ending of cooperation with the Hague tribunal is Serbia's obligation, but also its moral duty towards its neighbors and the world. Vuk Jeremic (Beta)
