The Bosnian foreign minister says Sarajevo will back any solution to the Kosovo problem that both sides agree on. At a joint news conference today in Belgrade, after a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic, Sven Alkalaj rejected any possibility of linking or comparing the Kosovo question with the Republic of Srpska’s status within Bosnia-Hercegovina. Bosnia favors agreement over Kosovo Jeremic said that, at this "delicate stage" in the talks on Kosovo’s future status, Serbia "needed the support of all institutions" that could have a bearing on the process. "Support from the NATO countries will be absolutely essential for us, both when it comes to European integration and the Kosovo question." "Serbia should be looking for the support of all those who have a say in this process," said the minister, replying to a journalist’s question relating to NATO’s alleged efforts to create its own state within Kosovo. "The Ahtisaari plan has been rejected precisely because it didn’t receive everyone’s support. A solution requires the support of all those involved… Getting that support is Serbia’s current diplomatic and foreign policy goal," he added. Jeremic and Alkalaj agreed that bilateral relations between Bosnia and Serbia were good, which, according to the former, "is proven by the resumption of work by the International Council for Serbian and Bosnian Cooperation." The Bosnian foreign minister remarked that the council’s work had been "unnecessarily interrupted" and that its resumption was "an important step towards Balkan consolidation."
