Miladin Kovacevic will meet with the U.S. embassy in Belgrade officials and those from Serbia's Justice Ministry, a newspaper report said today. Kovacevic is a Serb national studying in the U.S., who was released on bail facing grievous bodily harm charges when he left that country. "Fugitive, U.S. embassy officials to meet" "The embassy representatives are trying at all costs to persuade Kovacevic to voluntarily return to the U.S., because they know there is no legal ground for his extradition [from Serbia]." "At the same time, the United States are exerting strong pressure on the authorities in Belgrade to do everything to make Kovacevic return so that he could be tried in the U.S.," Belgrade daily Blic writes today, quoting its sources with the Justice Ministry. But Kovacevic's attorney, Veselin Cerovic, has denied that he had any information about the embassy meeting reportedly due to take place next week.
