Former Red Star official Dragan Dzajic's lawyer has told B92 that his client’s release from custody has returned the case within the framework of the law. The Supreme Court released Dzajic, together with former colleagues Vladimir Cvetkovic and Milos Marinkovic from custody yesterday, where they had spent the last five months. "Red Star case back within legal framework" The court rejected as unfounded the motion of the investigative judge and the public prosecutor to remand the suspects in custody for a further month. “Now that the Supreme Court has finally brought the case of Dragan Dzajic and the others into a legal framework, I’d like to say that what’s perhaps most important is for Dzajic and his family to be left in peace, to be allowed to recover from the grave injustice that they've suffered—from the gross violations of my client’s legal rights. Besides anything else, he’s facing a very complicated and difficult operation in a few days’ time, and anything else I have to say about this case, I will say in court,” said Zdenko Tomanovic. Dzajic was arrested on February 5 on suspicion of receiving a DM 5mn bung during the transfer of Goran Drulic to Real Zaragoza. Since his arrest, three other dubious transfers have come under scrutiny. Zdenko Tomanovic (FoNet, archive)
