Former members of the Zvornik Territorial Defense (TO) have testified at the Zvornik war crimes trial. At the trial of six suspects at the Belgrade District Court’s War Crimes Chamber, Dragan Milosevic and Vesko Galic, defense witnesses put forward by one of the accused, Ivan Korac, said that their unit had not participated in the crimes. Defense witnesses testify at Zvornik trial They said that they had been mobilized in May 1992 and stationed in the Standard factory. The former TO members said that they had heard stories of a prison, and a place where Muslims were held captive, but that their Pivarska unit, which Korac also belonged to, had not taken part in any of the crimes. According to the indictment, Korac and three members of the Yellow Wasp unit are accused of killing 19 of a group of 163 captive Muslims from the village of Divic, and at least three people from the Ekonomija and Ciglana districts. Then President of the Zvornik “Temporary Government” Branko Grujic and TO commander Branko Popovic are accused of the deportation of Bosnian Muslims and a series of other crimes in the Zvornik region.
