Russian investments welcome, Tadić says

Democratic Party (DS) presidential candidate Boris Tadic said on Wednesday that Russian investments wee more than welcome. He explained that the Russian companies running their businesses in Serbia proved they possessed world-class managerial competencies and technological solutions. We are accomplishing all the set goals, and I believe that we will soon witness the construction of the South Stream pipe line,” Tadic told journalists, after the opening of a new facility for processing sulfuric acid in the Pancevo Refinery. “At the moment, the talks are being held with Russian companies which showed interest for investing in several industrial branches, such as steel and chemical industries,” the DS leader noted. “I rejoice at each Russian investment, as Gazprom Neft illustrates that they know how to run huge companies such as the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) in the best possible way. Russian companies have achieved world-class quality in significant domains such as oil, fertilizer and steel productions,” Tadic stressed. Asked about the reasons for delay concerning the realization of the loan that Russia had granted to Serbia, Tadic explained that a significant part of the funds should be earmarked for the modernization of railways and that the authorities were compiling relevant documentation for some demanding sections on the railway Corridor 10. “The peace policy which Serbia has been pursuing in recent years has resulted in a good investment climate, and Serbia can attract a record number of investments in the coming years,” Tadic concluded.
