On the last day of November 2010, Serbia's external debt reached EUR 23.24 billion. The figure means the debt increased by EUR 214mn in comparison to the previous month, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) said today in Belgrade. The short-term foreign debt is around EUR 1.31bn, long-term and mid-term EUR 21.91bn. At the end of 2010, Serbia's public debt amounted to EUR 12.17bn, which constitutes 41.5 percent of GDP, the Serbian Ministry of Finance released earlier. The country's public debt at the end of 2009 was EUR 9.85bn, that is 32.9 percent of GDP, which means it increased by EUR 2.32bn in the meantime. At the end of 2008, public debt equaled EUR 8.78bn, or 26.3 percent of GDP.
