The National Bank of Serbia said that the Serbian dinar (RSD) had stabilized over the last week. The central bank said that this came as a result of the gradual reduction of risk in Serbia and the region since the middle of June, Beta news agency reported. Central bank: Currency stabilized NBS Vice Governor Bojan Markovic said at the presentation of the August 2010 Inflation Report that the weakening of the dinar in May and June was not a result of a growth in demand for foreign currencies, but rather because of increased risk and regional factors. The dinar in May and June weakened by five percent despite NBS interventions, said Markovic. The vice governor underlined that the NBS expects, to the extent which the dinar is adjusted now, that the seasonal effect in December will be lower. "It is not possible this year to avoid completely the seasonal end-of-year weakening of the dinar," he said.
