WAZ-owned Novi Sad daily Dnevnik did not go to press on Saturday, and its internet site has not been working since Friday night. According to sources of the Beta news agency, the reason that Dnevnik, the oldest Serbian-language daily in Vojvodina, did not come out on Saturday is because the workers of the printing factory have not been paid their wages. WAZ-owned daily didn’t go to press Dnevnik journalists prepared the Saturday edition, but the workers at the printing factory refused to print it, according to Beta. The daily’s shareholder assembly passed a decision on Friday to press charges against German media company WAZ, because it did not fulfill the obligations of the founding agreementfor the joint company Dnevnik Vojvodina Press (DVP) with Dnevnik holding, which is worth about EUR 6mn. The Dnevnik holding company believes that WAZ does not have theright to negotiate with a third part for taking over 55 percent of DVP, because it states in the agreement that Dnevnik holding has the right to buy the shares ahead of WAZ, since it owns 45 percent of the shares. WAZ announced recently that it will be leaving the Serbian market. Serbian Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic recently criticized WAZ's work on the Serbian market, calling the company a "bad investor."
