"This time, we're ready for gas crisis"
4 November 2009 | 19:12 | Source: FoNet
BELGRADE -- Serbia has sufficient amounts of natural gas at its disposal to secure supplies for special consumers, heating and part of the industry in case of a crisis.

This is according to Minister of Energy Petar Škundrić, who told reporters in Belgrade on Wednesday as he opened an energy efficiency conference that he hoped last year’s gas crisis would not be repeated.

However, the minister noted that should a similar scenario occur, Serbia would be much better prepared, with sufficient gas for two months under the reduced consumption regime.

Škundrić also stated that there were 200 million cubic meters of gas stored in Banatski Dvor, that another 200 million had been provided in storages in Hungary, and added that the domestic production was half a million cubic meters a day.
