According to official Tehran, Iran and Oman are now working to finalize the details of a joint statement, Reuters reported.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei told reporters in Tehran that an “understanding has been reached regarding the map of the transit route.”
He did not provide further details, but earlier reports indicated that under the arrangement, the strait could be reopened, with ships entering via a route closer to Iran and exiting via a route closer to Oman.
During the transition period, ships would pass through the strait without paying fees or tolls.
Trump furious
U.S. President Donald Trump immediately said that the United States would “bomb the shit out of Oman” if the country attempted to interfere with U.S. efforts concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them,” Trump told Fox News in an interview as the 60-day U.S.-Iran negotiating period expired.
