Macron announced: "We have to face..."

Macron arrived yesterday for a three-day visit to Germany, which is the first visit of a French head of state to Germany in 24 years, and was welcomed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Macron said that the visit comes at a "crucial moment for Europe", primarily because of the war in Ukraine.

"Having to face the imperialist aspiration in Europe... this means strengthening Franco-German relations," Macron said after the reception at the presidential palace.

President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, estimated that Germany and France, if they work together, can deal with Europe's geopolitical challenges, such as the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and the presidential elections in the USA.

The two presidents will travel to Dresden today, where Macron will give a speech, and on Tuesday the French president will visit Münster, in the west of Germany.

The visit to Münster will be followed by a meeting between Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the ministers of the two countries at the residence of the German government not far from Berlin.
