The United Kingdom said today that its armed forces are ready to protect the country from any attack after Iran's Revolutionary Guard warned Britain for allowing U.S. bombers to operate from British bases.

"Our armed forces are ready to safeguard the security of the United Kingdom against any type of attack, whether on British soil or from abroad. The United Kingdom is prepared to defend itself 24 hours a day, seven days a week," a government spokesperson said, according to Reuters.

The spokesperson said this includes a layered air and missile defense approach, with assets from the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force equipped with a range of advanced capabilities, working in close coordination with NATO allies.

Earlier today, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that any British military base used by the United States to launch attacks on Iran would become a legitimate target.
