“We continue our defensive operations in certain zones of active combat. Today, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the use of long-range drones against Russian oil refining and export facilities. In particular, during the night, Ukraine’s Defense Forces operated against targets connected to the oil refinery in Yaroslavl — around 700 kilometers from our territory. We are bringing the war home — to Russia — and that is the only fair thing,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X.

Zelensky also reported that Ukrainian forces carried out strikes on certain targets in temporarily Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. He added that preparations are underway for further Ukrainian long- and medium-range strikes in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine.

During the night between May 21 and 22, a drone threat alert was issued in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, where authorities also temporarily suspended traffic on the highway leading to Moscow. Videos featuring the sounds of explosions also circulated on social media.
