Zelensky: "We proposed a ceasefire for Easter – Russia responded with Shahed drones" VIDEO

Russia’s response to Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays is today’s shelling of multiple Ukrainian regions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in his regular video address.

“In fact, this is Russia’s response to our proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. Ukraine openly made such a proposal to Russia. Russia responded with Shahed drones and continues its terrorist operations against our energy sector and our infrastructure,” Zelensky said, Ukrinform reports.

He added that Ukrainian forces have been shooting down Russian drones targeting most Ukrainian regions almost all day and confirmed that Russian forces launched more than 700 drones, with a shoot-down rate of about 90 percent.

“Today I spoke with the U.S. team about a ceasefire. An Easter ceasefire could send a signal to everyone that diplomacy can succeed. Ukraine is doing everything to support peace,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky stated yesterday that Kyiv had proposed a ceasefire during the upcoming Easter holidays in the war with Russia and is awaiting a response from Russia.
