Iran declares: "We are ready"

Pezeshkian also noted that certain countries are already attempting to mediate in calming the tensions.

In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that some states have initiated mediation efforts, and that Tehran has told those countries that Iran is ready to work toward establishing lasting peace in the region.

‘Some countries have begun mediation efforts. We make it clear – we are committed to achieving lasting peace in the region,’ Pezeshkian emphasized.

However, he stressed that Iran ‘will never hesitate to defend the country’s dignity and sovereignty.’

The Iranian president added that mediation efforts should be directed toward those who, as he put it, ‘underestimated the Iranian people and ignited this conflict.’

The United States and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday, February 28, in what was described as ‘preventive strikes,’ following the failure of multiple rounds of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran then launched massive retaliatory strikes against Israel and U.S.-linked targets across the Middle East region.
