Iran attacked Turkey? NATO urgently scrambled jets
Ballistic missiles were fired from Iran toward Turkish airspace. According to Ankara, NATO forces intercepted and neutralized them.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, the ballistic munition fired from Iran was neutralized by NATO’s air and missile defense systems deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, Anadolu reports.
“It was detected that the ballistic munition was heading toward Turkish airspace after being launched from Iran. It passed through Iraqi and Syrian airspace. It was successfully engaged and neutralized in time by NATO’s air and missile defense systems deployed in the eastern Mediterranean,” the statement said.
It is also reported that a piece of the munition fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province, but it was determined to be anti-aircraft munition used in intercepting the ballistic missiles that were destroyed in the air.

“We urge all parties to refrain from actions that could further escalate the conflict in the region. In this regard, we will continue consultations with NATO and our other allies.”
The statement further added that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
