Israel threatens – whoever replaces Ali Khamenei will meet the same fate
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated today that any leader appointed by the Iranian regime to replace the slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would be an “unambiguous target for elimination.”
“Any leader appointed by the Iranian regime to carry out a plan to destroy Israel, threaten the United States, the free world, and regional countries, and oppress the Iranian people, will be an unambiguous target for elimination,” Katz said in a statement, The Times of Israel reported.
He added that “it does not matter what the successor’s name is or where they are hiding” and stated that Israel, together with its American partners, will continue to act “at full force” to “dismantle the regime’s capabilities and create conditions for the Iranian people to overthrow and replace that regime.”
Ali Khamenei, who had been Iran’s leader for 37 years, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tehran on Saturday. The Iranian Leadership Council has chosen Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the slain ayatollah, as the new ayatollah and Supreme Leader of Iran, according to Iran International.
According to the portal, Mojtaba Khamenei was selected at the insistence of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).
According to information obtained by the portal, the Iranian Assembly of Experts, under pressure from the IRGC, has chosen Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader. The decision has not yet been officially announced and is expected to be made public after Ali Khamenei is buried, the Iranian portal notes.
