An alarm went off, followed by a warning: Students barricaded the doors with desks; First eyewitness accounts

The Canadian media reported that Darian, shortly after arriving at the school at 1:30 p.m. local time, heard an alarm going off in the hallways.

A warning over the speakers instructed everyone in the school to lock the classroom doors.

He said that the doors were locked for a while, but he and his classmates soon realized that something was wrong.

Darian said that at that time, photos from the scene of the attack began arriving on his mobile phone.

“We took desks and barricaded the doors,” Darian said.

The doors remained barricaded for more than two hours, until police arrived to escort the students out of the school.

When they went outside, Darian met his mother in the town center, a few hundred meters from the school.

As a reminder, a shooting occurred at a high school in the town of Tumbler Ridge in British Columbia, Canada, in which ten people were killed, including the attacker, authorities said.

Police identify the attacker

Police have identified a female suspect in the shooting, but her name will not be released for now.

Investigators are still determining the motive for the attack, as well as the connection between the suspect and the victims, the Associated Press reported.

Ken Floyd, superintendent of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), told reporters that the suspect has been identified, but her name will not be made public.

“The motive of the female attacker remains unclear. We are still investigating how the victims were connected to the suspect,” Floyd added.
