The statement says that from January 27 to February 2, U.S. forces “located and destroyed an IS communications site, a critical logistics hub, and weapons storage facilities” in Operation “Falcon Strike,” Fox News reports.

“Striking these targets demonstrates our continued focus and determination to prevent a resurgence of IS in Syria. Operating in coordination with coalition and partner forces to ensure the lasting defeat of IS makes America, the region, and the world safer,” said Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of Central Command, in the statement.

The statement says that Operation “Falcon Strike” was launched in response to an attack by Islamic State militants on U.S. and Syrian forces in Palmyra, in central Syria, on December 13, 2025, in which two U.S. soldiers and one U.S. interpreter were killed.

“After nearly two months of targeted operations, more than 50 ISIS terrorists have been killed or captured. Central Command forces killed Bilal Hassan al-Jasim during a deliberate strike in northwestern Syria on January 16. The terrorist leader was directly linked to the ISIS attacker responsible for the December 13 attack,” the statement concludes.
