This is what the whole world has been waiting for: Trump reveals whether he will attack Greenland
U.S. President Donald Trump said, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, that “no nation or group of nations is in a position to secure Greenland except the United States,” adding that he would not use force.
“Every NATO ally has an obligation to be capable of defending its territory. The fact is that no nation or group of nations is in a position to secure Greenland except the United States. We are a great power, much greater than people realize,” he said.

Trump then criticized Denmark as “ungrateful” for refusing to relinquish control over Greenland, claiming that the country owes the United States for having defended it during World War II.
“Denmark fell into German hands after just six hours of fighting and was completely incapable of defending either itself or Greenland. So the United States was forced to act, and we did. Had it not been for us, you would all be speaking German and Japanese. After the war, we gave Greenland back to them—how stupid of us. But how ungrateful they are now. That’s why we are now facing the greatest risk, which I’m not even allowed to talk about,” he said, lamenting the U.S. decision at the time to allow Denmark to retain Greenland as its territory.
“How stupid we were to do that. But we did it, we gave it back. And how ungrateful they are now,” he added.
Will he use force?
Trump stressed that he would not use force against Greenland.
“We never asked for anything and we never got anything. We probably won’t get anything unless I decide to use overwhelming force and power, where we would, frankly, be unstoppable. But I won’t do that. That is probably the biggest statement I’ve made, because people thought I would use force. I don’t have to use force. I don’t want to use force. I will not use force,” Trump said.
He stated that all the United States wants is to obtain Greenland.
“All we are asking for is to get Greenland, including ownership rights and title, because you need ownership to defend it. You can’t defend it through a lease.”
