Macron, on Wednesday, commented on U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempts to take control of the Arctic territory, Greenland.

"We do not underestimate statements about Greenland," Macron said, according to government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon.

Macron added:

"If the sovereignty of any European country or ally were threatened, the consequences would be unprecedented. France is closely monitoring the situation and will act in full solidarity with Denmark and its sovereignty."
