New escalation looming? Israel considers a new strike
Chief of the Israeli Army Eyal Zamir has warned of a possible new conflict with Iran due to the strengthening of Iranian weaponry.
Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, spoke about the possibility of a new war and future conflicts with Iran.
Zamir warned that the Israeli military would strike Israel’s enemies wherever necessary, on both near and distant fronts, apparently alluding to the possibility that Israel might again be forced to attack Iran.
“At the center of the longest and most complex war in Israeli history lies the campaign against Iran. Iran is the one that has financed and armed the noose around Israel and stood behind plans for its destruction,” Zamir said.
Zamir’s comments came a day after NBC News reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during his upcoming visit to Washington, would present plans for a possible new strike on Iran to U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to the report, citing several unnamed officials familiar with the situation, Israel is increasingly concerned that Iran is resuming—and even expanding—its ballistic missile production following the 12-day war between the two countries in June.
