Trump: I ordered them to go to Putin and Zelensky
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, while at the same time U.S. Secretary of Defense Dan Driscoll will meet with Ukrainian representatives to finalize the peace plan for Ukraine.
“I will be informed of every progress, together with Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, as well as White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
He expressed hope that he would meet with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky soon, but “only if the plan to end the war is finalized, or in its final stages.”
Trump emphasized that significant progress has been made in ending the war over the past week and reiterated his claim that the Russia-Ukraine war would not have started in 2022 if he had been president at the time.
He noted that 25,000 soldiers have died in the war over the past month and that the peace plan, which initially contained 28 points, has now been revised with input from Ukraine and the U.S., leaving only a few points unresolved.
