The Russians have spoken; Clear message regarding the peace plan for Ukraine
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has not yet received the updated U.S. plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which has been reduced from 28 to 19 points.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow had previously received a draft of the U.S. plan, which largely follows the spirit of the Enkoridge summit, but that Russia is now waiting for an official statement from Washington before the plan is seriously considered, RIA Novosti reported. He noted that Trump’s plan is “substantial” and stressed that Moscow has not received an “updated” plan.
"Moscow has not received the revised 19-point plan. We don’t know what it’s about at all," Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesperson added that Russia is “interested in achieving its goals through political and diplomatic means.”
Peskov also commented on Europe’s involvement in “drawing up the plan.”
"Discussing a security system in Europe, talking about security guarantees within the security system, is generally probably difficult, practically impossible, without European participation. At some point, of course, that will be necessary," Peskov told reporters.
"Currently, the only substantial thing that exists is the American project, Trump’s project. We believe this can become a very good basis for negotiations, and our president has also spoken about this. We continue to hold this position," Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesperson reiterated that Russia is “interested in achieving its goals through political and diplomatic means.”
"In this regard, our position has not changed at all; it has been confirmed multiple times by the president of our country, and we consistently adhere to this stance," Peskov said.
