Moscow sends strong message to Trump: Make Kyiv accept peace

“Trump obviously needs to use stronger levers of influence on Kyiv if he wants to force it to accept his plan to end the military conflict in Ukraine. Simply expecting Kyiv to sign the plan ‘immediately’ is probably not enough,” wrote Pushkov on his Telegram channel.

He emphasized that Ukraine is “the main and only source of danger for Europe.”

“Ukraine cannot be a guarantor of Europe’s security, because it is its main and only source of danger. If there is anything that threatens Europe, it is the endless escalation of the Ukrainian crisis,” Pushkov stated.

He added that Russia has no reason for military conflict with Europe and therefore “Ukraine is not a shield for Europe.”

“The threat to Europe is not Russia, but the policies of EU leaders and Ukraine itself, which could provoke such a conflict,” Pushkov stressed.

U.S. President Donald Trump presented a peace plan for Ukraine and Russia containing 28 points, which envisions Ukraine giving up additional territories in the east, limiting its military, and formally renouncing NATO membership, Axios reported today.

The plan, confirmed to Axios by a Ukrainian official, also includes economic components, humanitarian provisions, and international security guarantees.

The American outlet previously reported, citing sources, that the United States is conducting “secret consultations” with Russia to develop a new plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
