Netanyahu warned strongly: They felt the "sword at their throat"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech in parliament in which he discussed how Hamas was forced to accept a peace agreement.
During remarks to lawmakers, Netanyahu said that Hamas felt “the sword at its throat.”
“As Israeli forces pushed into Gaza City, Hamas understood it was facing destruction,” Netanyahu said.
He also pointed out that many MPs believed Israel should not enter into a fight with Hamas.
“If I had listened to many in this chamber and beyond you — those who called on me to stop the war, to surrender, to raise our hands; if I had yielded to those demands — the war would have ended in a victory for Hamas and the entire Iranian axis,” Netanyahu said.
He added that everyone, including the opposition, knows this.
“The Israelis would have disappeared in a nuclear cloud. We have strengthened Israel’s deterrent capability, corrected our posture, returned the hostages — all alive; some of the dead are still there and we will bring them back. We have reinforced our status as a superpower, but it is not over yet,” Netanyahu concluded.
