Russian forces shelled Kherson, three people injured

At least three people were injured this evening when Russian forces shelled the center of Kherson, in southern Ukraine, according to the Kherson Regional State Administration.

"Around 8:20 p.m., Russian military forces shelled the central district of Kherson. Two people were injured as a result of the enemy attack," the administration said in a statement published on Telegram.

A 55-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman sustained injuries and concussions from the explosion, Ukrinform reported.

Doctors provided the necessary medical assistance to the wounded, who will continue outpatient treatment. Later, the Regional State Administration announced that another Kherson resident had been injured as a result of Russian strikes on the Central District.

A 23-year-old man sustained an explosive wound — shrapnel injury to the shoulder joint — and was subsequently hospitalized. Ukrinform recalls that one man was killed in Kherson earlier this morning due to a Russian attack.

Russian troops shelled the industrial zone of Kramatorsk

Russian troops shelled the industrial zone of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region today, and the final consequences are still being determined, Mayor Oleksandr Honcharenko announced on Facebook.

"Kramatorsk was under enemy fire. Between 1:20 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., according to preliminary information, Russian troops carried out five strikes on the city’s industrial zone," wrote the mayor of Kramatorsk, as reported by Ukrinform.

He added that the consequences are currently being assessed and that all relevant services are working at the scene.

Ukrainian Forces Attack Cooling Tower of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant with Drone

The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked a cooling tower at the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant using a drone, the press service of Rosenergoatom reported today.

The incident occurred during the night between October 6 and 7, according to TASS.

The statement said that the Ukrainian combat drone was suppressed by technical countermeasures, struck the evaporative cooling tower of Unit Six, and exploded.

There were no casualties or material damage, though a “dark mark” was left on the tower.

Rosenergoatom emphasized that the incident did not affect the operation of the plant, that its safety remains fully ensured, and that radiation levels are unchanged and within natural limits.

The Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant is located on the banks of the Don River, 45 kilometers south of Voronezh, and is the largest energy supplier in the region.

It consists of four power units with pressurized water reactors of the VVER-440, VVER-1000, and VVER-1200 types.
