Residents could hear alarm sounds on the streets and announcements broadcast through loudspeakers and media, although in some cities not every citizen was reached by the signal, RGRU reported.

In Omsk, on October 1st, more than 200 sirens went off from 10:35 to 10:40 a.m., accompanied by simultaneous signals on digital TV channels, though some residents reported not hearing them.

In St. Petersburg, sirens sounded at 10:40 a.m., while residents and tourists reacted calmly.
Signals were also broadcast on radio and television.

In Rostov-on-Don, alarms went off in the morning, and Mayor Aleksandr Skryabin urged calm via Telegram.

In Samara, sirens and loudspeakers were activated between 7:20 and 11:00 a.m. on the rooftops of public and industrial buildings.

Residents had been informed beforehand about the testing, so the reaction was calm.

In Kazan, not all residents heard the sirens due to new housing developments and problematic areas. Work is underway on a new regional public alert system that will cover 75 percent of the population within the next four years.

In Penza, sirens sounded at 10:30 a.m., but were not equally heard in all parts of the city.
Special vehicles with loudspeakers were deployed to more remote areas, while residents spent between 30 and 40 minutes in shelters.

Previous tests of these systems were carried out in St. Petersburg on March 3rd, and such drills are regularly conducted to check the efficiency and readiness of emergency warning systems.

In Russia, the sirens were tested a day after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that, due to Russian threats, he had deployed nuclear submarines off Russia’s coast, calling them “the deadliest weapons ever created.”

On September 30, in an address to the top command of the U.S. Armed Forces, he declared that the United States is “25 years ahead of Russia and China” in submarine technology development.
