Trump "thunders", again: Putin, it will be bad...
US President Donald Trump has said he is ready to impose economic sanctions on Russia if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a ceasefire, warning of serious consequences.
"We want it to end. We have economic sanctions. I'm talking about economic because we're not going to enter a world war," Trump said.
Trump did not set a new time frame for the implementation of sanctions if the war in Ukraine is not stopped, CNN reported.
"There won't be a world war, but there will be an economic war. It will be bad for Russia," Trump said.
He expressed hope that there is still a path to mediation in reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump also again suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky bears some of the blame for the conflict.
"What I thought was going to be the easiest turned out to be the hardest," Trump said of the war in Ukraine, adding that he still thinks he will be able to help end the conflict.
Trump has threatened several times to impose sanctions on Russia if it does not end the war in Ukraine and set time frames for that, but later extended them, CNN reminds.
