The decision was made to allow security protocols to be improved in cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), The Times of Israel reported.

According to Hamas health authorities, at least 61 people were killed in three days, while more than 290 people were wounded near the distribution centers in Rafah, where Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinians who allegedly deviated from the approved routes.

The IDF claims the incidents are the result of disorientation among civilians, while Hamas accuses the military of indiscriminate use of force.

The GHF, which is part of a joint initiative by Israel and the United States to deliver aid without involving Hamas, said that intensive negotiations are underway with the IDF to create safer pedestrian routes to the centers, increase the presence and training of Israeli forces in areas near the checkpoints, develop clearer instructions for civilians and expand the distribution of aid to northern Gaza, where the needs are most pronounced.

An IDF spokesman warned Palestinians to avoid traveling to the checkpoints, as those areas are considered active combat zones.

Despite the GHF's attempts to deliver aid, most of the population, especially in southern and central Gaza, still have to walk for kilometers through danger zones to get a box of basic provisions, while public kitchens and cooking are hampered by fuel shortages, it said.

Meanwhile, UN diplomats confirmed to Reuters that ten member states of the Security Council have requested a vote on a resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and the lifting of all obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid.

Nine "yes" votes and no vetoes from permanent members - the United States, Russia, China, Great Britain or France - are needed to pass the resolution.

As reported by the BBC, the vote for the resolution in the UN Security Council will take place today at 4 p.m. local time.

The GHF said it would resume distributing aid on Thursday.
