Putin, fulfill Trump's plan, otherwise... Serious threat from Germany
Europe supports US President Donald Trump's plan for a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, with both the EU and the US ready to impose new sanctions on Moscow if it refuses serious peace talks, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today.
During his first official visit to Brussels, he called on Russia to finally start the path of "real peace negotiations" and pointed out that the EU and the US will continue to support Ukraine, as well as increase allocations for Kyiv if necessary, Reuters reported.
Merz pointed out that Germany remains opposed to a joint EU debt to finance defense spending.
Trump again called for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire and said that talks with Russia and Ukraine will continue.
He stated on Thursday on his social network Truth Social that the US will impose new sanctions if the truce is not respected.
