Trump and Xi Jinping to meet soon; Negotiations in progress
The United States and China are in the early stages of negotiations on a potential summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The meeting should be held in June in the USA, Reuters reported the Wall Street Journal.
According to the Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post, citing several diplomatic sources, Trump could meet with Xi in China as early as April, "despite the escalation of the trade war."
The presidents of both countries would like to present the visit of the other side as a diplomatic triumph, but the first talks were about Trump's visit to China, diplomatic sources said.
It is unclear how advanced the discussions are about a potential meeting between the presidents of the US and China.
One Chinese source said that "it is more difficult for Beijing officials to talk with their counterparts in Washington now than with the Biden administration, as Washington is going through drastic changes."
Just days before Trump returned to the White House on January 20, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation and discussed a wide range of issues.
A week later, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with his American counterpart Marco Rubio, but they have not yet had an official meeting.
Rubio is sanctioned by Beijing and technically cannot visit China.
