"We have a situation where there was no election in Ukraine, where we have a state of emergency, an effective state of emergency," Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort, when asked to comment on Russia's demands to sign a peace agreement only after the elections in Ukraine, according to CNN.

Trump stated that "support for Zelensky in Ukraine has fallen to four percent" and that "the country has been blown to pieces." He noted that most cities, except Kyiv, were destroyed.

"Shouldn't the people of Ukraine say, you know, it's been a long time since we've had an election," Trump continued.

He added that it is not about what Russia says about the elections, but, as he stated, about his personal position, as well as the position of "many other countries".

Trump also suggested Ukraine was responsible for Russia's invasion three years ago, saying Kyiv could have made a deal then and avoided conflict.

"You shouldn't have started this," Trump said.

The US president said he would not oppose the deployment of European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.

"If that's what they want, great. I'm completely in favor," Trump said and at the same time emphasized that he would not send American troops to Ukraine.

Trump stated that Zelensky previously said that not all the money allocated in the United States of America reached Ukraine.

"We gave them, I think, $350 billion," the White House chief continued.

"This is a lot and Europe should match this indicator. But, it gave only 100 billion. We have an ocean between us, and they (Europe and Ukraine) don't. But where is all the money that was given? Where did it go? Nobody has never seen reports about this. We give hundreds of billions of dollars. I don't see any reports," he pointed out.

He also emphasized that he wants peace to be established in Ukraine so that no more people die.

"I look at people who are killing each other - they are Russians and Ukrainians, but these are people, regardless of where they are from, all over the planet. And I think I have the ability to end this war," the US president emphasized.

Trump repeated that he could reach an agreement for Ukraine and added that his predecessor in the White House, Joseph Biden, handled this "badly, pathetically and sadly".

"I could make a deal for Ukraine to give them back almost all the land - almost all the land, and no one would die, not one city would be destroyed, not one tower would be brought down. But they decided not to do it that way," Trump concluded.
