Djokovic won a record seventh China Open title on Tuesday, at the ATP 500 event, taking his total to 102 ATP-level titles.

Only Federer, with 103 titles, is now ahead of him, while the record is held by Jimmy Connors with 109 trophies.

The Serbian star won his first ATP title in 2006 in Amersfoort, aged 19. Two decades later, he has one of the most successful careers in tennis history.

Djokovic holds the record for most titles at the ATP Finals, with seven. He also has a record 40 Masters 1000 titles, while his 24 Grand Slam titles are the most in men’s tennis.

Players with the most titles in the Open Era

Rank Player Titles
1. Jimmy Connors 109
2. Roger Federer 103
3. Novak Djokovic 102
4. Ivan Lendl 94
5. Rafael Nadal 92

He is now just one title away from matching Federer’s 103, while seven more titles would see him equal Connors’ record.

His triumph in Beijing further underlined Djokovic’s remarkable longevity. He became the first player in history to win an ATP title in 21 consecutive seasons.

“I am very proud of this achievement. It came at the best possible time, as a boost to my confidence and proof that I can still play at the highest level,” Djokovic said after the final.

Djokovic went unbeaten in Beijing and now has a record of 34 wins and no losses at the tournament.

As the No. 10 seed, Djokovic has a first-round bye in Shanghai. In the second round, he will face the winner of the match between Hubert Hurkacz and James Duckworth.

During his rivalry with Federer, Djokovic won 27 of their 50 meetings. However, the Swiss star still has one more ATP-level title than him.

Federer won his 103rd and final title in Basel in 2019, when he was 38.

That season, he won four titles in total — in Dubai, Miami, Halle and Basel.

Djokovic has now surpassed the age at which Federer won his final trophy, but he has no intention of stopping.

After Beijing, his next major target is clear — Federer’s 103 titles, followed by Connors’ record of 109.
