Marinković on Tyrique's departure: "Next question"

Partizan will play away at Monaco on Tuesday at 19:30 in the 20th round of the EuroLeague, and in the 21st round on Friday at 20:30 they will visit Barcelona.

“The double round comes at a not-so-great moment for us. That’s the schedule. We take it game by game. I think the last match was better than even against Maccabi, Virtus, and Žalgiris. That is the path we have to follow. I hope it will go better, and it will have to go better. We will have two tough games, against Monaco and Barcelona. We will give our all and try to get at least one win,” said the captain of the “black-and-whites.”

Despite four consecutive losses in the EuroLeague, being at the bottom of the standings, and the departure of Tyrique Jones, the Partizan captain emphasized that the team’s atmosphere has not been affected.

He did not want to comment on the American player’s departure, saying only, “Next question,” when asked about it.

“The atmosphere has always been good. That was never in question. I think we played well for 35 minutes against Valencia, and the last five we dropped and lost,” added Marinković.

He also commented on working with the new coach, Joan Penarroya.

“He came before Maccabi, and for Valencia we had a little more time to prepare and for all the players to get familiar with his system, to know what we should play, how, and in what way. Although we didn’t win that match in Valencia, I think the team’s performance looked at least a bit better than against Maccabi,” Marinković concluded.
