A strong zonal jet stream has settled over Europe: Here's exactly what it means for Serbia
Although autumn is well underway on the calendar, no significant drop in temperatures is expected in the coming days. On the contrary, temperatures will climb to 22°C, we can also expect the Košava, a strong southeasterly wind, says meteorologist Ivan Ristic.
According to meteorologist Ivan Ristić, who shared the information on his Facebook page, a “strong zonal jet stream” will develop over northern Europe next week, blocking incursions of cold Arctic air into southern regions.
“So, for now, there is no sign of any significant cold spell,” Ristić said, as reported by Blic.
Temperatures to climb to 22°C
He says that until next Wednesday, October 21, Serbia will remain under the influence of an upper-level cyclone centered over the Black Sea, along with an area of high atmospheric pressure.
“There will be increasing cloud cover, little precipitation, and maximum temperatures will range between 13°C and 18°C,” Ristić stated in his latest weather forecast.
However, from Wednesday, October 21, a moderate southeasterly wind, known as the Košava, will begin to blow.
“There will also be a decrease in cloud cover and a slight rise in temperatures, which will range between 17°C and 22°C. Overall, we can expect typical early-autumn high-pressure weather, with no significant precipitation and temperatures within the normal range for this time of year,” Ristić stated.
