Latest Updates on Injuries in the Sremska Mitrovica Collision; Driver Detained
The director of the Sremska Mitrovica hospital, Vojislav Mirnić, stated that six severely injured passengers from the overturned bus are in stable condition, while one female patient, due to more serious injuries, has been transferred to Belgrade.
“Her condition is also stable; however, due to the nature of her injuries and the doctors’ assessment, it is better for her to be at the Belgrade Emergency Center at this time. The condition of the other patients in general surgery and orthopedics is also stable,” Mirnić told Tanjug.
He added that nearly 120 staff members from the Sremska Mitrovica hospital were involved in treating the injured, and many who had finished their shifts returned to the hospital to help.

“We had a situation where those who had gone home or were finishing their first shift stayed or returned. Surgeons and orthopedists came back, radiologists participated remotely from home, and some even came in, so there was a significant engagement of hospital staff,” Mirnić said.
Detention for the driver
The Basic Court in Sremska Mitrovica has ordered up to 30 days of detention for D.K. (70), the bus driver whose vehicle veered off the road on Friday, resulting in three deaths and around 80 injuries, the court told Tanjug.
The driver is suspected of committing a serious traffic safety offense. He is accused of causing the accident on the Jarak – Sremska Mitrovica route, which led to the deaths of three people. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 14:45.
A day of mourning has been declared today in Sremska Mitrovica.
