A serious traffic accident occurred today on the Sremska Mitrovica – Jarak road, when a bus carrying more than 80 passengers overturned.

According to Telegraf, the accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on the Sremska Mitrovica – Jarak road, when a bus operated by Sirmium Bus, transporting workers from the company Healthcare, for reasons still unknown, veered off the road and overturned onto its roof.

According to initial, unofficial reports, at least two people have been killed, while as many as 80 others were injured.

Numerous emergency medical teams, police, and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, where rescuers are working to pull the injured from the vehicle.

Police officers, several emergency medical teams, and the on-duty prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Sremska Mitrovica are at the scene of the accident.

Traffic is currently suspended.

An investigation is underway, and the exact cause of the accident will be determined after the on-site inspection.
