RHMZ set off alarms; Get ready for the ice wave, the fiercest today; The temperature drops to -20
Serbia is expecting the coldest day of the week today with temperatures below zero. The cold wave continues, and the orange weather alert is in effect due to extreme weather conditions.

According to the latest warning from RHMZ, the temperature in many places in the country will not be close to zero, and the cold wave will continue in the coming days. Due to such weather conditions, an orange weather alert is in effect in almost all of Serbia, and the warnings do not stop.
The State Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) announced that on Thursday and Friday, February 20 and 21, in all regions of Serbia, and on the weekend, February 22 and 23, mainly outside the Košava area, severe frosts are expected in the morning hours.
"In the lower regions, the minimum temperature values will be -10 in some places, and in the mountains locally -15 degrees", warns the RHMZ.
In Zlatibor, the temperature drops to -20 degrees Celsius.
The following days will be sunny, but cold, it will rain on the weekend
From tomorrow until the end of the week, cold weather awaits us with strong morning frost, and minimum temperatures in most places will range from -12 to -4 degrees.
"During the day it will be mostly sunny, at the end of the week with passing moderate cloudiness," says RHMZ.
A moderate and strong southeast wind will blow in the Košava area on Friday evening and for the weekend. Maximum temperatures on Friday from 2 to 6 degrees, and on the weekend up to 8 degrees, only in Timok Krajina will the colder weather remain.
In the last week of February (from February 24), RHMZ announced a further rise in both morning and daytime temperatures, but with passing clouds with rain, on high mountains with snow.
RHMZ issued a cold wave warning
The RHMZ has issued a warning on its website about a cold wave in certain parts of our country that will last at least 5 days.
Starting today, a cold wave will affect Šumadija and southeastern Serbia.
"A cold wave lasting at least 5 consecutive days. Considering the intensity and duration, a very dangerous weather phenomenon is forecast. Be very careful and follow the official announcements about the weather and the weather forecast", according to the RHMZ website.
Meteoalarms are in force throughout Serbia
In most places in Serbia today, a yellow weather alert warning of precipitation was in effect, but the RHMZ continued to lower the warnings.
Namely, as can be seen on the website, today and Friday, when the biggest cold wave is expected, the degree of danger increases, and most of the country will be under an orange warning.
The yellow weather warning will be in effect for the next two days only in Srem, Bačka and Belgrade.
Weather in Serbia for the next 5 days
According to the data published by the RHMZ, tomorrow should be the coldest day this week, and this is supported by the fact that an incredible -20 degrees is expected on Zlatibor, followed by Kopaonik with -16.
Among the cities, the coldest will be Kragujevac, Priština, Niš and Kraljevo with temperatures of -10 and -9 degrees.
On Friday and during the weekend, low temperatures will continue, and due to Košava, we will have the feeling that the temperature is lower than the thermometer actually shows, but temperatures won't drop seriously below zero.
"On Friday, February 21, the snow will start blowing in the evening and it will continue on the weekend, so the subjective feeling of cold will be -5 or -6 degrees, although the temperature will be above zero", meteorologist Ivan Ristić explained to Blic.

When will we say goodbye to winter?
Meteorologist Ivan Ristić pointed out for Blic that, according to all prospects, this week should be the last strong impact of winter, and he also revealed when we will most likely say goodbye to this season.
"Such low temperatures should not be repeated, however, at the end of the first decade of March, more precisely around the 8th and the beginning of the second, another cooling is expected, and snow is also possible in the lower regions. After that, it should be the end of winter," said Ristić.
In a week, the difference in temperature is more than 30 degrees
Ristić also warned the citizens of Serbia about the "flying" change that will arrive on Monday, February 24, and which will bring a complete temperature shock.
"On Monday, everything suddenly changes, the cold air goes to the east, and the Atlantic one comes to us. It is possible that clouds will come with it and that there will be rain in some places, but on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 25 and 26 to be exact, the temperature will rise to 15 degrees," he said.
In his latest post on Facebook, he mentioned that in exactly one week, on February 25, the temperature could reach an incredible 17 degrees.
"In a week, we will go from today's winter 0 degrees to spring 17 degrees," he wrote.
Ristić added that it is expected to be very warm on those days, and that it is possible that such weather will continue on Thursday, i.e. on February 27, which would mean that the temperature could increase by more than 30 degrees in just one week.
