At the beginning, Vučić thanked all journalists for attending, saying he would try to allow more time for their questions.

‘We have two goals for the upcoming year 2026. The first is peace and stability, and the second is related to politics – it is to make 2026 the best year in the history of Serbia, primarily in terms of the economy,’ Vučić explained.

‘Regarding politics, Serbia will continue its policy of military neutrality and regional peace, and globally adhere to the UN Charter and UN resolutions, not only concerning Kosovo and Metohija but also all other crises around the world. At the same time, we will protect the security of Serbian citizens from potential aggressors and try to deter them. We live in times that are not easy to predict.’

As he emphasized, in 2025 there were 63 meetings with world leaders, 34 with prime ministers, 34 with EU heads, 31 with ministers and parliamentary presidents, and 26 important calls.

“Just these alone, there were 188, more and more frequent than any other day in the year. I am grateful to my team in the presidency who prepared us and participated with us in foreign policy activities, of which there were many. Thank you for the effort, the work, and everything we did to represent our country’s interests with dignity,” explained the President of Serbia.

“Apart from illegal gatherings and numerous attacks on police and citizens, we managed to maintain peace. The most endangered was Milan Bogdanović, who was shot at in front of the Parliament due to obvious political hatred. Still, we managed to get through without deaths or casualties. I want people to know that. In France, due to what the ‘Yellow Vests’ organized, dozens of people lost their lives.”

Reduced crime rate

Vučić pointed out that Serbia this year has the lowest crime rate, the lowest in the past 25 years since it has been statistically measured.

Vučić emphasized that Serbia this year has the lowest crime rate in the past 25 years since it has been statistically measured, and that the media in the country have never covered crime stories as extensively.

“Previously, we didn’t have media that reported on these cases. Today, it’s good that it’s different. This way, we especially protect people and particularly women. I congratulate the police on the well-done job in arresting T.K., a repeat offender who injured a wonderful woman who was with her three-year-old grandson.”

He added that it should be considered whether penalties can be increased. He explained that the arrest of T.K. took so long because our country lacks facial recognition technology.

“We did not receive a report from the public, so we should have had facial recognition, but we didn’t because some mainstream media said we would be entering people’s bedrooms. Every other country has this, but Serbia doesn’t,” said Vučić.

He also announced that police officers will receive salary increases, which is important for combating criminal groups coming from the region as well as from Kosovo and Metohija.

He added that the army will be strengthened and that in the coming years Serbia will develop a system similar to Iron Dome.

“Serbia will be among the best-equipped countries in Europe in terms of air defense and deterrence of any potential aggressor. We will also increase the number of soldiers. Anyone who even considers attacking Serbia will think twice about it. Our army is stronger than it has ever been,” Vučić said.
