The court also ordered the detention of G.M., director of the Treasury and Cash Management Department at Alta Bank, and I.P., an associate in treasury operations at the bank, the court announced today.

G.M. and I.P. were remanded in custody to prevent them from influencing witnesses and committing further criminal offences within a short period. In Macura's case, detention was also ordered due to the risk of flight.

Davor Macura is suspected of committing the criminal offence of abuse of position by a responsible person, while the other suspects are charged with aiding and abetting the same offence.

As the Prosecutor's Office previously announced, Macura is suspected of committing the offence over the preceding period, up until October 31, by exceeding the limits of his authority. G.M. and I.P., who were responsible for directly handling assets in Alta Bank's vault, allegedly facilitated the offence by creating the necessary conditions. They did so by handing Macura access cards or using their own cards and presence to enable him to enter the bank's "Depo" vault without authorisation.

In this way, Macura is suspected of removing money from the vault and obtaining unlawful financial gain amounting to approximately 45 billion dinars.

Acting on the orders of the Prosecutor's Office, searches were carried out on October 31 and November 1 at Alta Bank's premises and at Macura's residence. An inventory of the cash held in the bank's vault was also conducted, according to an earlier statement by the Prosecutor's Office.
