Russians have a deadline until Friday; Vučić on gas: We will negotiate with others

“Regarding gas, if we don’t receive the agreement by Friday, on Monday we will start negotiations and we will purchase gas elsewhere,” Vučić said.

He added that citizens should not worry about this.

He made the statement at a press conference at the Presidency after a meeting with the teams responsible for the country’s energy stability and security.

We have enough fuel

He also announced that there is enough fuel, but people will have to go to some other gas stations.

He added that the state will supply oil derivatives to everyone except NIS, in order to ensure sufficient fuel.

“With kerosene, there will be absolutely no problems, let me not go into detail about how we arranged that. But we did, so air traffic will function completely well and normally. We will have enough until the end of January, and we said that on January 15 we will make a final decision. In the worst-case scenario, if by then they don’t finish talks with the Arabs, the Hungarians, the English, the Americans, with whomever they want — that’s their business. So, we have enough fuel, only people will have to go to some other gas stations,” Vučić said.

He said that whatever the government tries to do, the whole country is under pressure from possible sanctions.

“We have taken risks so far, and we will continue to do so — I said, until Monday — after that we will decide on a daily basis. But I think that in the entire monetary and broader financial sector of our country, people are very, very cautious and afraid, and they no longer want to take risks,” Vučić concluded.
