Investments in industrial development and attracting of investors are key goals in this year, experts say. Privatization Agency Director Vladislav Cvetkovic and Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) Director Bozidar Laganin say that the main goals of the two agencies in 2011 will be to attract investors. Investments in industry goal for 2011 They pointed out that the priority will be investments in the economy, primarily in industrial development. “Privatization Agency will in 2011 work on finding as many investors as possible who want to invest in Serbian companies, primarily in the field of industry,” said Cvetkovic. He pointed out that one of the main goals was also reduction of unemployment, which was one of Serbia’s biggest problems. “It doesn’t matter if these are companies that went bankrupt or those that are being restructured, we will try to find some serious investors in industry that can really carry the industrial development and employment and improve the general image of our economy,” he stressed. Laganin also believes that Serbia needs to invest in industry. He points out that sectors in which serious development is expected are car industry and information and communication technology. “I don’t only mean the upcoming privatization of Telekom, I also mean realization of projects in the field of information and communication technologies that we have been discussing for quite some time,” the SIEPA director stressed. “I also eagerly expect arrival of serious operators in the field of tourism, whose projects we expect in 2011,” he said. Cvetkovic and Laganin agree that this year will be difficult and that maintaining of solvency will be one of the biggest problems that the Serbian economy will have to face.
