BRUSSELS, BELGRADE EU's Catherine Ashton is meeting on Wednesday in Brussels with prime ministers Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci to resolve the fate of the elections in Kosovo. Although western countries believe that Pristina "for the first time since the unilateral declaration of independence held a fair and democratic elections in the entire territory of Kosovo, a political decision will be made for northern Kosovo," unofficial sources in Brussels told the Belgrade-based daily Danas. Dacic and Thaci meeting with Ashton Diplomatic circles are announcing two possible outcomes - repeat voting at three polling places in northern Kosovska Mitrovica, or introduction of interim administration in the city, where elections will be repeated when the conditions are right, while the results of the November 3 elections in Leposavic, Zvecan and Zubin Potok would be accepted. It is speculated that "Thaci today expects a relatively easy job, since Pristina will be commended for the implementation of the Brussels agreement, while Dacic will have to explain what Belgrade meant by demanding to 'intervene for 45 minutes and being order in northern Kosovska Mitrovica' and why it didn't use political means to provide normal conditions for voting." It is also expected that agreement would be reached on the "green light" to start talks of working group on property, air and rail transport in Kosovo. Dacic announced on Tuesday that one of the topic in Brussels will be "annulment of elections in the north of Kosovo, and in all places where Serbs were intimidated and unable to vote." He also announced "the beginning of activities to form the community of Serb municipalities." In a statement, Catherine Ashton said that the meeting today will discuss the next steps in the election process and the implementation of the Brussels agreement. She congratulated the voters who went to the polls, praised the OSCE and the EU Monitoring Mission, and strongly condemned violence at some polling stations in Kosovska Mitrovica. Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will also attend the meeting in Brussels which is expected to take place before noon. Meanwhile, member of the central election commission of Kosovo Nenad Rikalo said after the vote count that the commission had decided to annul the vote in three polling stations in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. The Serbian Parliament Committee on Kosovo and Metohija will convene on Thursday morning, Danas reported, quoting announcements from the committee's chair and SNS MP Milovan Drecun. Although members of the body as far back as in early March asked to be addressed within 14 days by Ivica Dacic, as Serbia's chief negotiator in Brussels, he will not attend tomorrow's meeting.
