The Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) is ready to stand the forthcoming elections independently, says its deputy leader. PUPS will decide on possible coalitions "when the time comes", President Milan Krkobabic also stated Wednesday. Pensioner party "ready to face elections alone" He added that the party was dissatisfied with the situation in the country, above all with a large number of the unemployed and pensioners "on the verge of existence". However, Krkobabic stressed that PUPS is not dissatisfied with its current pre-election coalition partners, the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and United Serbia (JS). Krkobabic, who is also Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, said that concrete problems must be resolved, adding that PUPS believes that more attention should be paid to social entrepreneurship, employment and stimulating of the economy. He underlined that, since 2008, PUPS succeeded in "eveling the rise in pensions with that of salaries in Belgrade". Pensioners with a monthly pension of less than RSD 16,000 receive a 13th pension, while citizens over the age of 65 are entitled to free public transportation. (Tanjug, file)
